The Beauty of Libra Season: Astrological Glamour Magick series

As a Venus ruled sign Libra season embodies beauty and aesthetics. The Venusian eye for art and curation is an invitation for you to tap into your creative side and lean into expressive looks. There is a certain duality to explore at this time with Libra season starting at the equinox and the tipping of the scales. During this time tapping into your darker more shadow-y aspects can be powerful and transformative through self exploration and creative expression. Libra truly embodies the “my two moods” meme from years ago.
Just as the nights get darker the shades do too. For the first time in a while, black comes into the astrological color palette - we’ve arrived at darker days. Of course the Venusian repertoire of pinks and greens are at the forefront of Libra season just as they are in Taurus season, but they tend to take on a different feel. Where the pinks of spring are soft and floral the pinks of fall feel a little more haunting and striking. We start to dip into forest greens, emeralds, ferns, olives, and sage shades. Earth tones dominate the season and we find the return of the plum and brown lip. Lavender and more nightshade adjacent tones of purple start to emerge.
Libra has such an interesting and unique fragrance profile. There is a subtle underlying fairy element with vaguely frightening and obscure notes of foxglove, catnip, thyme, violet, mugwort, and belladonna. These witchy and weedy notes juxtaposed with strawberries, cherries, and apples demonstrates the duality that Libra embodies. Wrapped in a delicious bow of Vanilla, the deadly aspect of some of Libra’s most sinister notes goes almost unnoticed.
Some of the most stunning crystals in the world are aligned with Libra. Tourmaline is the one I think of the most when I think about Libran crystals. These versatile gems come in a variety of deep and interesting shades - sometimes in more than one shade carrying that contrasting theme that we continue to see. Most commonly and easily attainable is black tourmaline which makes a wonderful crystal ally as the nights get darker as it brings protection, grounding, and purification.
Dreamy opal has the same ethereal and mysterious energy that we’re all feeling during this time of year. It is one of the most notorious crystals as it seems to have many superstitions attached to it. This is a wonderful one to work with if you want to tap into your creativity, work with your inner child, and explore your shadow/many facades for deep spiritual healing. As tourmaline and opal are both wonderful beauty stones - keeping them with your makeup, skincare, or on your dresser/vanity will bring a great deal of confidence, glamour, and self love.
If you are struggling to accept certain aspects of yourself, Libra season is here to hold your hand and guide you through it. Libra has a really unique way of finding the beauty in your darkest coldest nights and your periods of shedding just as much as your most abundant harvests and warm sunny days. Libra reminds you to be beautiful you have to be both.
